Bourbon French Parfums
Bourbon French Parfums was founded in 1843 by August Doussan. Arriving in New Orleans, Louisiana from France, Doussan established his perfumery in the historic Vieux Carré (better known as the French Quarter) and began creating fragrances for New Orleans' wealthiest families. One of the earliest fragrances developed by Doussan, Kus Kus, was launched in 1843 and is still a best-seller for the house. Doussan took a business partner, J.H. Tindel, a young chemist who had studied perfumery while in Europe, and changed the store's name to Bourbon French Perfume Company. The store continued to prosper over the years and was eventually sold to Marguerite Caro, who had worked in the shop for a number of years and studied perfumery under Tindel's guidance. In 1973, Marguerite's granddaughter, Alessandra Crain, inherited the business. The current owner, Mary Eleftorea Behlar, bought the business from Alessandra in 1991. The house continues to offer some of the original fragrances created by Doussan and Tindel, with successive owners also contributing new fragrances to the collection over the years. Bourbon French Parfums continues to hand-blend and produce all their fragrances in small batches, with an emphasis on natural ingredients. Bourbon French Parfums also offers bespoke perfume services in its shop on Royal Street. Designer Bourbon French Parfums has 38 perfumes in our fragrance base. Bourbon French Parfums is an old perfume house. The earliest edition was created in 1843 and the newest is from 2018. Bourbon French Parfums fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumers Alessandra Crain, Mary Eleftorea Behlar, J.H. Tindel and August Doussan.
