Ginestet is a more than hundred years old French house of legendary Bordeaux wines. It was founded by Fernand Ginestet in 1897, settled in Quais de Bacalan in Bordeaux. Fernand Ginestet created the “Estate and Trade Union”, thus pioneering in what is today known as the “Interprofession Bordelaise”. The “Estate and Trade Union” became the Bordeaux Wine Council in 1948. Through its history, the house inhabited some of the most famous Châteaux: Château Citran, Château Gruaud Larose, Château Broustet, Château Ferrière, Château Haut-Bages Libéral, Château Camensac, Château Chasse Splee, Château La Gurgue and Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux. Maison Ginestet was taken over by the Taillan group, owned by The Merlaut family, in 1978. The Taillan group extended its portfolio of exceptional holdings by acquiring the Château Broustet estate, a 2ème Cru Classé en 1855 located in Barsac-Sauternes in 2010. Today, this house features about 100 employees and their work is based on the consolidation of administration and production of wines that possess Ginestet emblem, both in France and worldwide. Ginestet has developed a number of brands in accordance with different demands of consumers. These are Ginestet, Francês Roots, CAP270 by Ginestet and Marquis de Chasse. In 2008, Ginestet presented the first two fragrances: Brotytis and Sauvignonne. Their scents are inspired by some of the aromas used in the wines, the primary aromas of Bordeaux wines. The fragrances are created in collaboration with the prestigious perfumery Floresence from Grace. The production began by selecting three wines by Ginestet: dry white wine, red wine and Sauternes – the wine from the franchiser Sauternais region of Bordeaux. Three types of wine were sent to an enological institute in Bordeaux to discover the primary molecules that are later used to make these fragrances. Designer Ginestet has 3 perfumes in our fragrance base. The earliest edition was created in 2003 and the newest is from 2008.
