House of Orpheus

House of Orpheus was founded by owner and perfumer Marcus McCoy in 2014. Marcus has dedicated years of his life to the study of the magic of scent. He began his journey with an apprenticeship to a South American shaman, working with exotic Amazonian flowers, learning how the plants spoke through their scent. From this beginning he studied the art of distillation and the extraction of scents from plants and began learning the alchemical origins of perfuming. Marcus believes that perfuming is a high art and that like all high arts, each piece is unique and must be interwoven with something greater, beyond the physical. The perfume must be exalted ... Named after Orpheus, the progenitor of the Orphic mysteries a legendary musician, poet, and prophet who wrote hymns to the Greek gods and powers, each completed with the burning of a sacred incense—incense that is the base of many of the perfumes Marcus creates—House of Orpheus hopes that each scent will allow the wearer to be stirred and roused by the symphonies of scent. A note about ingredients: House of Orpheus does not work with the usual ingredients within most normal perfumes. Not all of the ingredients in House of Orpheus perfumes are added for their scent. The fragrances may contain Alchemical metallic oils, sourced from a master alchemist. Each metallic oil is alchemically transmuted into a safe-to-use oil and is the exalted essence of the metal, not the metal itself.
