Woods of Windsor brand of fragrances comes from a small apothecary opened in 1770, located in the shadow of Windsor Castle, a medieval castle in the English county of Berkshire. The apothecary became very respected due to its services to the Royal Family. The story begins when a fascinating collection of archived perfume recipes, old texts, prescription books and medical artifacts were found in the attic of the Windsor store, during a renovation in 1970s. Due to these fragrance recipes, Woods of Windsor name was revived and the new range of signature English floral fragrances was created using the old formulations. In just a few years, Woods of Windsor got its place at Harrods and Liberty department stores. Woods of Windsor launched their first collection of men’s fragrances in 1981, inspired by a formulation that was originally used to scent Spanish leather. In 1983, the brand won the Queen's Award for Export. By 1985 these fragrances were exporting to 40 countries worldwide. The brand today still respects its rich heritage, remaining innovative yet classical, still using the original apothecary in Windsor as the company's flagship store and headquarters. Designer Woods of Windsor has 11 perfumes in our fragrance base. The earliest edition was created in 1974 and the newest is from 2014.
