Maison Francis Kurkdjian truly excels! The scent exudes an intoxicating power that's both erotic and alluring, with complex and evocative notes. I can almost imagine the aroma of warmed bodies after a steamy encounter, complemented by subtle hints of honey on the skin and the lingering presence of nag champa incense in the air. The opening is strikingly animalic, featuring cumin and honey that blend together beautifully. The cumin is rich and warm, reminiscent of sweaty skin, while the honey is wild and unbridled. As the scent unfolds, sandalwood emerges, harmonizing with the honey to create a sweet and sensual accord. Smoky incense, resinous benzoin, and cedar become apparent on my skin, with rose adding its own sweetness before gradually receding into the background. The fragrance is truly divine, especially when the heady notes of honeyed benzoin and incense meld together on my skin. The addition of ylang-ylang adds another layer of sensuality to the fragrance, with its creamy and buttery texture. As the scent dries down, it settles into a vanillic-benzoin drydown that's both smooth and alluring. The staying power is impressive, lasting around 8 hours on my skin, while the sillage is enormous before gradually becoming arm-length after a few hours. If rumors are true about the potential discontinuation of this fragrance, I must secure a backup of this stunning scent ASAP!
During a conversation, Olivier Knurdjian reportedly shared that he might sell around 50 bottles of Apres L'heure pour les Sens (APlS) and only one Cologne Pour le Soir (CPlS) annually.
This perfume doesn't resonate with me due to its unconventional notes, specifically the combination of ylang-ylang and cumin. Additionally, it lacks the amber and honey accords that I was hoping to find.
OK, got my sample and I'll really enjoy my 4ml. I have three great amber fragrances, so I can compare. They are TF Amber Absolu, Sahara Noir, and Lutens Ambre Sultan. Absolue Pour le Soir is predominantly an amber and honey or Labdanum fragrance; I don't know why they list benzoin. I know amber, and this is it - it's 80% amber and very smooth and well blended with the other notes that nicely embellish the amber.
This perfume has a lingering aroma that is reminiscent of stagnant urine found on worn-out trousers. It stands out as one of the most distasteful fragrances I have had the misfortune of experiencing, having sampled over a thousand perfumes in my lifetime.
