Here’s my experience. Not exactly a review, but i hope it could help someone. I bought BR540’s official samples twice, both EDP and ExDP. At first i could barely smell them. Then i kind of “understood” the fragrance and now i can smell them pretty well (the can be buy on the official MFK official website for pretty cheap), but only if i spray the perfume far from my face/nose and in very little doses. I learned that the only way to really test and understand the performances of a perfume, at least for me, is to spray it very sparingly on the wrist or back of the hand, so you can avoid nose blindness and olfactive fatigue. This is particularly true and helpful with BR540 and all it’s clones. I own and use with a lot of pleasure AG Cloud, Cloud 2.0 and Burberry Her. I own or i tested and used Instant Crush, Sensual Instinct, Amber Fever and also Zara Red Temptation. Well, to me they are all, more or less, in the same scent category and they all share some similarities. But they ARE NOT identical to BR540! I'm not saying they are better or worse, they are just different while remaining similar. I was searching for the exact same fragrance as BR540 EDP, but with improved performances because, unfortunately, i really don’t find it so powerful and beast mode like some of you guys do. I decided to try this Orientica Amber Rouge. First i was disappointed as I couldn’t smell it at all. Now it’s 3 weeks I received it and, I swear, I don’t know how it is possible, but the juice has become stronger and now i can definitely smell it and assure you it is exactly like BR540 EDP. I mean really the same!! Maybe maceration did the magic? I tried but I can’t find a batch code calculator for Orientica’s products so I don’t know how old it is. My hope is for the perfume to keep going stronger! So, in conclusion, if you’re looking for an alternative to BR540 EDP, my suggestion is to go for Orientica Amber Rouge and don’t even consider the others i mentioned above as they are good perfumes on their own, not clones.
Blind testing Amber Rouge against BR540 and neither my husband nor I could tell which was which. They smell nearly identical. Amber Rouge is a bit less woody than BR540 and slightly sweeter. If you like the cedar and fir notes, then this may not be for you.
Smells like BR540 without the dentist's office smell. It also smells like Sunset Riot by All Saints, but the lasting power of Sunset Riot is non-existent. I sold Sunset Riot because of the terrible lasting power and blind bought Amber Rouge to replace it. It smells exactly like Sunset Riot (which I did not expect), and it has better projection and lasting power. I love BR540 but I do not like the medicinal smell, so this is an amazing option for me, and I will be purchasing a back up bottle just in case it becomes hard to access in the future. The bottle is beautiful and the juice is perfection, to me. It is warm, fluffy, sweet, spicy, woody, SEXY, and delectable. It can be worn day or night and in all seasons, but mostly during late fall, winter, and early spring when the weather is cooler. The scent projects but it is not so cloying that it would be an issue to wear in warmer weather. It is unisex, but because the medicinal element is missing, a manly man may find this to be too feminine and may want to stick with BR540. I love it!
Just got this and tested it. Very disappointed as the fragrance is extremely weak and what I do smell is that faint latex glove smell. I know many recommend macerating so I will let it sit for a few weeks/months and try again. Has anyone tried this, Al Haramain Amber Oud Ruby and Lattafa Ana Abiyedh Rouge? Any info and/or comparisons would be appreciated :) Edit: it’s been a little over a month since my comment above and the performance is better but it still has a somewhat latexy smell. I like that it smells a bit sweeter than Al Haramain Amber Oud Ruby but the latex thing is a little off-putting. Hoping this will fade over time.
I'm not really sure what to expect from this fragrance as I only had a 2ml sample of BR540. It starts off fluffy and slightly sweet but then it disappears. I heard the same happens to BR540. If that's the case I will never make a high purchase on a disappearing fragrance. As I move around I get whiffs of it but nothing beastly.
