Reviews

Apple juice and digestive biscuits at first, then a sweet soft musk for the rest of the day. I don't know what ambrette smells like on it's own really, but I think I love it. This has a natural smelling musk that isn't like anything else. When I used to be a nanny the kids would hug me and say "you smell like you". You're not really getting perfume here. It reminds me a little bit of winter fruit that got warm in a patch of sun on the kitchen counter. I love it and will buy it until I'm dead.

Smells like paint thinner for the first 5 seconds. Then poof it dries up!

Very very faint to me. Musky, slightly sweet, slightly fruity, pleasant drydown. Simple and enjoyable but nothing unique or worth the niche price. Scent: 7 Sillage: 4 Longevity: 4

The mixed reviews of this fragrance are very interesting and puzzling? It's possible that people where expecting a heavier musky fragrance, but if you think about it, this fragrance was intended for Mom's and Baby's. I guess they were trying to capture that clean baby scent that parents love so much. So, it's supposed to be light and fleeting. Can you imagine if you spray something into your child's crib that smelled like a goats butt? Not so good! All jokes aside, this is a strange and wonderful formula! I tried it on before I was told about the baby scent thing and immediately thought it to be like clean skin, but almost pheromone-like and sensual. Since that time I've worn it on several occasions and every time, without fail, someone sticks their nose into my neck and gives me that dreamy look. Woah! What? Really? Yes... No joke! It has that affect on everyone who sniffs me. Yeah, it's light and barely noticeable to me, but it's the perfect fragrance to wear when you don't want to appear to be wearing one, yet you still want be noticed. Perfect for the office, the gym and really good for going on a date. Sometimes it's okay to wear something that you don't like so much, but if other people love it on you, then it's a hit!

I get where people are coming from when they say it's too light with no longevity. Ambrette needs time to warm up. I'll spray it in the morning and forget for a couple of hours, but catch it in the afternoon and then it lasts for over 10 hours on my skin. I smell pear - definitely get a sour, "off fruit" note at first - and musk. I like it in all seasons, day or night. It's fresh enough for spring and summer, but smelling it on a warm scarf on a cold day is equally enjoyable.
