Cape Heartache

I've had this fragrance since August and it's my first full-sized Niche Perfume, and I genuinely adore it. In the four months I've been wearing this scent three times a week or so, I haven't ever detected the strawberry in this perfume; which is a pity because I think it would be a fascinating addition. Nonetheless, I don't believe the fragrance requires the strawberry for sweetness, as the vanilla and pine resin do an excellent job of lifting. This is a very woody fragrance, but it's not like the cologne your aunt buys for your teenage brother or cousin at holidays; instead, it's a truly unisex woody perfume with impressive projection and incredible wear time, nearly lasting 10 hours without reapplying. It smells like the last time I went camping as a kid, waking up early in a thick fog on a cool fall morning, walking through the tree line to see an open grassy field ahead, touching pines and getting sap stuck to my palms.

This perfume stands out with its distinctiveness - the prominent synthetic strawberry note gradually dissipates after 10 minutes and transitions into a sweet essence that harmonizes with the pine and smoke notes, evoking a sense of wonder akin to an enchanted fairy forest. The fragrance boasts a fresh, green, and slightly mysterious character. While it shares some similarities with a lush bath bomb, I'm unable to pinpoint which one. Although linear in its progression, without many surprises after the initial application, this perfume still leaves a moderate trail that garnered compliments during testing. Its enchanting quality has me enamored, though its limited versatility makes me uncertain about whether it will become a full-bottle favorite for me.

If you're seeking unique or high-end fragrances and craving a genuine pine scent, consider alternative options. For me, this perfume's opening is overpoweringly pungent, with a synthetic quality that persists until the dry down.
