Initially, I detected a tart, slightly sharp lemon meringue accord that gradually transitions into a musky citrus fragrance. This is quite enjoyable. As I continued to wear it, I picked up on the smoky undertones - still pleasant, but not as laid-back as I initially thought. It exudes a mature and sophisticated air, evoking an impression of dressing up and going out to a special occasion.
The overpowering smokiness in this perfume is a major turnoff for me, I had to remove it from my skin. While testing another tea-scented fragrance, Indigo Smoke, this week, I found that one was even more unappealing. It's hard for me to understand how anyone could find pleasure in such strong smoke notes - they give off the aroma of barbecued meat and leave a bad taste in my mouth.
I got a sample of this and ended up buying a decant right away. I'm hooked! There's something irresistible about some Vilhelm fragrances - Poets of Berlin and Dear Polly exhibit similar charm to me. As a fan of tea-based perfumes, this one did not let me down. The blend of crisp green apple, tea leaves, and subtle mossy amber is absolutely captivating. This will definitely become a staple for my spring and summer routine! ๐ธ
I'm surprised by how prominent the Tea note is in this perfume! It's almost overpowering, like a strong black tea that becomes bitter if left steeped for too long. The spicy and peppery undertones aren't my cup of tea either ๐ I was expecting something fresher and crisper from the citrus and apple notes, but instead it takes on a bitter, spicy, and woody quality on my skin ๐ To make matters worse, it has very little longevity - I can barely smell it after a few minutes unless I stick my nose right where I sprayed it!
I find myself torn between two distinct impressions of this perfume. Upon closer inspection, it presents a bitter, almost leathery quality that doesn't entirely resonate with me. However, when I step back and allow the fragrance to envelop me, I'm treated to a sweet, powdery, and light pepper scent that is surprisingly comforting, charming, and distinctive.
