Notes

Deseo embodies the essence of a tropical storm, with its warm, wet, woody, and citrusy characteristics unfolding like a unisex symphony. The top notes reveal distinct bamboo and citrus elements, which, surprisingly, are absent of coconut undertones - a masterful blend that blends beautifully with floral midnotes and a sultry, exotic drydown. It's unfortunate that this gem was discontinued, as it also deserves recognition for being underrated among celebrity scents. Notably, Deseo boasts impressive longevity and sillage. In summary, Deseo is a standout scent that defies comparison to Glow and its flankers, eschewing soapy or fruity notes in favor of a sophisticated, grown-up tropical experience that's truly exceptional.
Deseo initially captivates with its wonderful aroma when applied. However, on my skin, the scent takes an unexpected turn after the first hour, transforming into a tropical getaway that's more reminiscent of a sun-kissed beach than coconut itself. But just as I'm getting comfortable, the fragrance takes a drastic nosedive, veering sharply into notes of rotten fruits and air freshener – an experience so jarring that I felt compelled to scrub it off! 😊
This old perfume bottle is still on my mom's dresser. It was incredibly well-received by her. Although the fragrance itself has faded from memory, I do recall it being very airy and light without compromising quality. The packaging does an excellent job of capturing the essence of the scent inside. Moreover, I believe the design is unisex-friendly.
I put off trying JLo's Deseo for a while due to the full price tag, as none of her other scents had impressed me despite my affection for My Glow. Thankfully, I stumbled upon a 1 oz bottle at TJ Maxx for $9.99 and decided to give it a chance. From the moment I opened the bottle, I was greeted by a prominent citrus note that reminded me of the opening notes in BS Hidden Fantasy. However, Deseo quickly takes a different direction from there. As a huge fan of Womanity, I found it interesting to draw comparisons between the two scents. Both share a salty, fruity, warm, and woody quality, evoking the feeling of spending time on a hot, windy beach. While Womanity is much more intense, bitter, and sharp, Deseo is gentle and mellow. It features notes of warmed fruits like coconut, banana, mango, and starfruit, with a salty ozone and hot, bleached driftwood undertone that gives it an aquatic vibe with a slightly masculine feel. The combination of jasmine mimose and freesia with the mystery fruits makes Deseo occasionally sweet, while the yuzu note is barely detectable to me. I can smell dry, woody coconut, synthetic banana, and generic tropical fruit notes, as well as a hint of bamboo that's reminiscent of grassy, watery flavors. Another scent that comes to mind is Tommy Bahama for women, which also features some muted qualities that Deseo shares. While it doesn't blow me away, Deseo is an easily wearable scent that's reminiscent of tropical laundry detergent.
I've had this perfume in my collection for several years now. Initially, I didn't quite appreciate its distinctiveness, which was indeed unusual for its time and remains so today. The lingering hint of a salty flavor threw me off at first, like an unexpected punch that left an indelible mark. However, over the years, it has surprisingly mellowed out, much like a fine wine, and I no longer find the subtle pickle juice note as jarring.
