Notes

Let's take a break from Roja perfumes and focus on what Diaghilev really is. It's an old-school chypre fragrance with a bold, sexy edge that feels rare these days but isn't quite a masterpiece. When I spray it, the first few hours are reminiscent of Tom Ford’s Moss Breeches—sadly discontinued—and then it smoothly transitions into something like Frederic Malle’s Musc Ravegeur. The mossy chypre note lingers and blends with that dirty vanilla sexiness from Musc Ravegeur. Diaghilev feels confident and elegant, never overwhelming. It doesn’t project strongly at all—just light whiffs now and then for a few hours. Sillage is soft but noticeable when moving around. Longevity-wise, it lasts about seven hours on my skin, which is decent. Sometimes it can last up to 12 hours if I'm really close to the application site, though it fades a bit after that. Overall, Diaghilev is gorgeous and memorable, but at the steep price tag, I wouldn't buy a full bottle. However, a 100ml bottle at half retail might be worth considering—it could offer better value for the money while still capturing its appealing essence.
I've been really into experimenting with perfumes lately, and Diaghilev has become a favorite. After trying it three times alongside other Roja Doves, I feel like I belong to the first group—those who have experienced Roja scents firsthand. The way this perfume evolves is almost like reading chapters of a romantic novel, each chapter bringing new depths. It's got civet tamed by floral notes and subtle woodsy undertones, making it a robust scent. I can see why high-profile individuals like royalty or VIPs might choose it for daily use, especially at grand events. Even during professional meetings, the reactions were positive, with people nodding in appreciation. I've only sniffed Mitsouko once, so I can't compare it directly to Diaghilev's vibe. Pricewise, at 750 pounds for 100ml, Diaghilev seems fairly priced, especially considering other Roja Doves like "Roja" which retails for double that and the Attar versions at 750 each for only 30ml. This makes Diaghilev a good investment given its quality and longevity. I think it's something that will continue to impress over time. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend giving it a spritz—trust me, you won't be disappointed!
Diaghilev smells like a Victoriana-inspired Christmas party, kind of like something out of a Charles Dickens novel. I don't know why it's not more talked about, but this fragrance is packed with warm spices like clove and nutmeg. It’s powdery, with a hint of something animalic, and it blends citrus and flowers beautifully. Wearing this scent, you’d want to look your best since it’s definitely made for a sophisticated guy. The sillage isn't huge, so it doesn’t blast everyone away. It sticks around for over 15 hours on my skin and can be spotted on clothes for days. The spice notes linger for about 10 hours after application. For me, it's worth every penny, but your mileage may vary. Definitely try a sample first!
"I know some women wear it, but heads up—it lacks any softness. It’s distinctly a masculine chypre fragrance that feels a bit rough and bold. I’d say it has a strong, sharp scent."
This perfume is opulent and suave, with a chypre style that feels reminiscent of Aromatics Elixir. It blends smooth oak moss with high-quality patchouli and vetiver, while also incorporating subtle touches of citrus and culinary herbs. Ambrette and civet are present but refined, and the fruit and floral notes are there without being too forward. The overall scent is grand and rounded, undeniably impressive, though it’s hard not to smirk at its exaggerated luxury. It’s excellent, beautiful, stunning, and just a bit over-the-top. Put on some bling and channel your inner Liberace—this perfume was made to be worn with confidence and flair.
