Opinions seem to vary widely on this, but I love it. I don't pick up on a lot of mint. I get rose and some woods. Very office safe, high-quality and kind of like a modernized fougere, but not ultra-masculine. Sorta like an early 90's fresh fougere (i.e. Eternity, Safari, Pasha).
Typical Fougère. Sorry but this barely moves the needle away from any Mens’ cologne from the last century! It’s just very typical. I had to wash it off I felt like an old dad.
A slightly nicer version of Rogue's Bon Monsieur. BM is already quality juice, but can be overpowering. This stuff is an easier to appreciate aromatic fougère.
I expected spearmint, but it is truly a peppermint (hello, patchouli!), very old-fashioned, 1980s shaving foam. It is comfy somehow, but definitely masculine (unless a woman would layer it with some vanilla). Is it unique? No. Maybe it is for a younger generation (90s and after that), but if you are familiar with 80s, this is something you've seen Before :) Does it justify it's price? No This is the fragrance that reminds me of a very special person that is no longer with us, so I will cherish this scent for a nostalgic memory.
So... this is fougere. Being relatively new to fragrances, hearing the words of chypre and fougere often confuse me because I keep searching up what these words mean and what fragrances count as chypre and fougere, but I always get confused. Interesting thing about learning a new word is that sometimes we just have to learn through association, much like a 5 year old learning the difference between types of doggies. If this is a fougere, then this is what I think a fougere to be: a slightly green, aromatic, clean, fresh scent associated with the Polo colognes you get when you're a teenage boy. Fougere seems to lean masculine, though that by no means means that only men should wear it. I, then, learned that I don't like fougere scents because I cannot appreciate them. I need an enticing fragrance that has a little sweetness or herbal quality that plays with my expectations. I'm a sucker for woody woods as well, so you can imagine an aromatic, floral, minty fougere just doesn't check enough boxes on my silly lil' list. Eau de Minthe is NOT bad at all, and not synthetic. I love what Diptyque offers, and I kind of wish I liked this because the bottle is so nice. 10/10 bottle (I keep saying this but I won't apologize), 8/10 scent, 8/10 longevity, just not a me type.
