Reviews

A disappointing experience with the perfume! It's clear that it didn't quite live up to expectations. The scent, in my opinion, lacks a certain something - it doesn't linger on the skin or clothing for an impressive duration, especially considering its price point of £265. I was expecting more from a Private Blends product, given their reputation for creating rich and opulent fragrances like Tuscan Leather, which remains one of my all-time favorites.

Dries down almost indistinguishable from Eilish No. 2, with the exception of a more noticeable incense note in the initial stages of TF that fades away within half an hour. While I appreciate certain similarities between the two fragrances, I'm disappointed by their poor longevity and identical wearability.

Ébène Fumé presents an refined woody-amber fragrance profile, infused with spices and a subtle smokiness that echoes the discontinued SJP Stash at a fraction of the cost. Upon initial spray, EF exhibits a balsamic quality, followed by rich wood notes that emerge swiftly. The top note features peppery spice, while a dry smokiness develops throughout, maintaining an exceptionally dry and woody character. The amber component is resinous and luxurious, exhibiting leathery undertones without becoming too animalic; it harmonizes beautifully with the dry woodiness. Although linear in its progression, EF eventually wears thin and synthetic towards the late drydown stage, taking on a slightly unpleasant metallic note. Moderate sillage and long-lasting longevity are notable characteristics. Overall, Ébène Fumé is a simple yet well-crafted woody-amber fragrance that is suitable for unisex wear during colder seasons, but applies best in moderation due to its moderate concentration. While I find it overpriced given the limitations, it remains a reasonably decent option nonetheless, earning a rating of 3/5.

This perfume instantly captivates me! It's both soothing and captivating, with woody smoky notes that are enhanced by subtle hints of incense. On my skin, it combines seamlessly. Its robust, slightly masculine character resonates with my personal taste. The overall impression is reminiscent of the warmth and coziness of a loving relationship, the crispness of an autumn afternoon, or the peaceful ambiance of a crackling campfire on a chilly evening wrapped snugly in a blanket.

This perfume strikes me as a strong and distinctive blend of smoky notes reminiscent of palo santo, evoking the atmosphere of an old church with its incense and wooden pews. Its character is surprisingly similar to Bois Morocain, and I find it quite impressive. The longevity is also notable, lasting for around 10 hours on my skin.
