Reviews

I'm still trying to figure out what I think of this perfume... 😊 I bought it blindly based on reviews and loved the opening, which is like a herbal and medicinal vanilla scent that really caught my attention. Unfortunately, it didn't last as long as I'd have liked. The next stage reminded me of Eternity by Calvin Klein, which I actually enjoy. However, things took a weird turn after that - I got hit with strong, animalic musk that wasn't pleasant at all. Not my cup of tea. 🙅‍♀️

Ropion's creations are among the most impressive. Lalique Le Parfum is a stunning, adult vanilla oriental that has earned a spot in my top 10 favorite perfumes. It's challenging to put into words, but as you wear it and become accustomed to its nuances, you might detect a scent reminiscent of "herbal vanilla candy canes." The fragrance begins with pronounced herbal notes (bay leaf) before evolving through various stages to reveal a sweet, dry down of vanilla, evoking the taste of a delicious chilly treat. There's truly nothing like it. The bottle is exquisite, the scent is extraordinary, and its longevity is outstanding – all for an affordable price online. However, I would caution that this perfume may not be suitable for those seeking a traditional "vanilla fragrance," as its uniqueness can catch off guard those unfamiliar with Ropion's style.

The fleeting sensation of crisp autumn air rustling through lush foliage, evoking nostalgia for the warmth of summer's vibrant energy. This enigmatic perfume, masterfully blending powdery, dry, and spicy notes with vanilla's comforting essence, strikes a sublime balance between refinement and intimacy. As I surrender to its enveloping presence, I am transported to a haven of wistful melancholy.

This scent has piqued my interest with its intriguing blend of vanilla and almond sweetness, juxtaposed against a bright and fruity quality. While one might expect these elements to conflict, they somehow harmonize, anchored by the earthy presence of wood and patchouli. The interplay between notes yields a truly distinctive aroma that is both captivating and slightly disconcerting in its beauty.

In the older A-Z guide, Tania Sanchez dismisses this perfume as a "terribly frumpy" "peony-oriental," and while I respect her expertise, I must respectfully disagree. To my nose, this scent is not particularly peony-forward, but rather a lovely combination of vanilla, citrus, and bay leaf that together create something truly unique. The sweetness is subtle, unlike some other vanilla fragrances on the market. While it may remind me of earlier vanilla scents at times, I find it to be light and refreshing, with a pleasant sillage. My standards are not as high as Sanchez's, but I think this perfume deserves a chance, even if you're a fan of Turin or Sanchez like I am.
