I adore this scent and sprang for a full flacon. MOON BLOOM is a big, eminently natural-smelling tuberose, with the narcotic qualities dialed to 11. For being an all-natural perfume, it has real cachet and blend and subtlety and texture. It is in no way headshoppy and unctuous. All the supporting notes seem to be natural extensions of the tuberose's qualities itself: coconut lends a subtle exoticism to an already tropical brew... I don't really pick up on the green notes that are listed in the official pyramid. The flowers are enhanced here by delicate, almost subliminal qualities of methyl salicylate (wintergreen), often used in white florals. And a gorgeous hint of clove is barely intimated here, to add further dimension to the star of the show. Because this floral is SO natural, the perfume is midrangey, and as a result, perfectly unisex. Hiram Green wisely eschewed adding high-pitched, girly notes. The flowers in MOON BLOOM low and croon and glower, nocturnally. This perfume is narcotic, moreso, in fact, than any other iteration of tuberose I have encountered in perfumery. That narcotic quality gives you a kind of giddy, pixelated elation, causing your eyes to feel like they're popping out with pleasure. I seem to see the colors of Gauguin's Tahiti paintings here, warm toned colors all saturated, strange and surreal. Instead of picturing 1950's va-va-voom bombshells, I rather picture the Beatles visiting the Maharishi in Rishikesh in 1967 with Mia and Prudence Farrow, their chests laden with leis of tuberose blossoms. MOON BLOOM almost gives me a 60's psychedelic feeling-- hippies, take note! The longevity of MOON BLOOM, not surprisingly for an all-nat fragrance, is not an all-day affair, as you'll get with synthetic perfumes. You'll basically get about 4 hours of narcotic bliss, then you'll want to re-apply to start the magical unfoldment all over again. MOON BLOOM will spoil you, and other white floral numbers like DO SON, WHITE SHOULDERS and FRACAS, etc., will seem rather synthetic and overly-prettified by comparison. Highly recommended. Naturally this fragrance is really welcome during hot summer weather
I believe this is my first review on Fragrantica. Had to comment on this scent. I smell the tuberose, the jasmine and all of it very “green”. Not overly sweet. Unfortunately I can’t separate my memories of this type of smell from the actual fragrance. I think it may be White Shoulders that it reminds me of. Which, in turn, reminds me of a bossy overpowering aunt interrupting while Dallas was on. Sadly I can’t do it. But you can tell this fragrance is quality. Nothing synthetic-smelling here. I don’t smell coconut but as someone mentioned before it may be in there giving it a creamy smell. If I’m going to go do a loud white floral I’ll choose vintage Alfred Sung instead. No tuberose but still has the headiness. This is probably not a blind buy.
When I first dabbed on a sample of this, I teared up a little since it smelled like tropical flowers from home--- almost like a plumeria lei (without the citrusy top of actual plumeria) left in the sun for a few minutes, then refrigerated and worn again in the evening, surrounded by glossy deep-green leaves. I immediately ordered a bigger 5 ml sample with an atomizer in order to compare how it is when sprayed. Then I commenced using up the rest of the current .7 ml sample on my skin, clothes, and hair. That's usually a lot for me, and this perfume isn't exactly wimpy. However, it disappeared very quickly on my prepped skin. The fatty-silky opening of tropical island flowers stayed a while longer on fabric, and became a cool, creamy, stemmy tuberose. My partner detected a soft licorice-anise kind of spice in the drydown. After a few hours it became more charming than intoxicating, but it remained very charming indeed for many hours afterwards. I'm conflicted between being disappointed that the tropicality faded so soon, and relieved that I haven't become enamored with a perfume that makes me homesick. Will revisit when the atomizer sample arrives. Update: so much softer and more sheer when sprayed. Still charming, but doesn't induce tropical-island nostalgia for me, which is nice as it makes the scent more versatile.
This was a blind buy that instantly shot into my top 5 after the first wearing. Gorgeous, striking blend of tuberose and jasmine with a little coconut and spices. Sillage is noticeable but not too loud. I find some tuberose fragrances a little hard to wear (Fracas) due to a "screechy" note I sometimes get, but this is so wearable and pretty, it's hard to believe it's made entirely of naturals. Longevity is pretty average on me. Reminds me quite a bit of Carnal Flower but a little spicier and less green, a bit sweeter too. This is such a beautiful perfume, I really can't recommend it enough. My only complaint is the atomizer bulb, but at least the bottle comes with a screw on top that you can use to store it with so there won't be any evaporation. I'm not too concerned as I will probably decant this into an atomizer anyway, I want to have it with me at all times! :)
I sprayed this on a blank adult coloring book and the flowers came to life in a vivid chorus of color. Ladybugs crawled out of the walls and bees woke up from windowsills. Hummingbirds flew at me eye level looking to belly up to my flower bar. The angel trumpets blew their horns and the jasmine sneezed off a few petals. And the Moon, it was full tonight despite the almanac.
