While I can acknowledge the exceptional craftsmanship in this perfume, unfortunately, it fails to resonate with me on my skin. This experience is reminiscent of my disappointment with Carnal Flower, where similar issues arose. Musc Ravageur boasts impressive blending, but my skin distorts the lavender and musk to an overwhelming degree, overpowering other notes except for the woods. On paper, I detect the perfume's potential: seductive, warm, heady, cozy with a subtle sweetness. It's a shame it doesn't translate this way on my skin, instead evoking the musty scent of a woodshop with lavender nearby. Despite this, I'm still enthusiastic about my sample and will continue to appreciate its nuances on blotters, just as I do with Carnal Flower. However, I would advise against making a blind purchase without trying it first.
I acquired a 3ml sample upon initial attempt, all I detected was CLOVES and nothing else. Following a week's delay, I'm now picking up on the base notes with greater ease. To be honest, I have no idea what a pornstar fragrance should smell like but this doesn't seem to fit the bill. I envision wearing this on a 50-year-old, intoxicated, lesbian librarian strolling through a crowded street on New Year's Eve - if that's you, then go for it! For me, it appears to be a more feminine scent overall.
The initial notes are impressive, but it's the lingering dry down that truly makes this perfume stand out. Despite being a bit pricey, I'd still suggest giving it a try.
Here is the rewritten comment: Musc Ravageur has a wonderful scent that lasts long enough. It's indeed a very good perfume with a cool name that's quite aspirational. When I sprayed it on initially, I had a fleeting thought of being transported on a warm and inviting journey. However, my experience came to an abrupt halt when I compared it to my 30ml bottle of Lira by Xerjoff, which shares striking similarities. In essence, both perfumes evoke the same warm and embracing feeling as a delicious cake with citrus peel garnish on a summer evening near a lavender bush.
Musc Ravageur is akin to unwinding on a cold winter evening: you've had a long, exhausting day, but as you step inside your home, the warmth and comfort envelop you, the soft glow of candles casts a cozy ambiance, and the aroma of freshly baked cookies wafts from the kitchen, beckoning you to sink into the plush cushions, surrounded by loved ones.
