Neroli 36

Unpopular opinion: I enjoy this fragrance because it is basic. I acquired a sample vial of it and was wearing it so frequently that I almost immediately ran out of it. It was perfect for wearing to work, lab, and classes. Pleasant and quiet, just enough to lift my spirits. If it were half the price or had significantly better longevity, I would buy it right away. Unfortunately, though, neither of those things are true. The abrupt end to this simple journey has left me wanting more but not enough to change my mind. Edit: Found a barely used bottle that was half off on mecari. I am satisfied with my little bottle of happiness.

I get the marine aspect of this perfume in abundance, but can't pick up the musk note at all. This is pleasant, but I'm not generally a fan of 'oceanic' fragrances (the exception being CB I Hate Pefume's At The Beach 1966 which far more multifacteted).

I have tried this 3 times and still have no idea what to say about it. I start to write a review then I can not think of a single thing to say about it. Which I decided is pretty much a review in itself. I can't even say that I like it.....or dislike it. It doesn't smell like what I am used to expecting from neroli...and without cheating I could not even tell you a single note I am smelling. Is it floral? Is it citrus? And what is that odd smell that I occasionally get a whiff of? I almost love this and I almost hate it....but can't commit to either side. But I am definitely not neutral about it. I just get an unusual feeling when I smell it and I have no idea why. I guess this review is about as helpful as a map that has "north" on all 4 sides. But I swear this is the best I can come up with.

Anyone expecting a neroli based composition or a revisitation of the classic EDC, be prepared for a big disappointment. Neroli 36 is a slightly weird, transparent and subtle floral/aldehydes concoction that shares more similarities with Secretions Magnifique than with an Eau De Cologne (the matallic/watery feel is quite similar indeed). Not as challenging or shocking as the ELDO, but way too far from matching my taste. Rating: 5/10

My first love with Le Labo was the Rose31 body soap and lotion I received as a complimentary gift from a resort in Canada. So when I walk past the boutique in HK I went in a try a few of their perfumes, Neroli36 was a love at first sniff, there is something ethereal about it that I never smell before, so calming, so fresh, so clean. 5 minutes later I found myself at cashier paying for the most expensive perfume of my life! When I come home to my hot humid country I open my bottle excited to try it on but my first reaction was Suntan lotion! And I can't kick that feeling out of my head ever since. Today I revisit the perfume after reading reviews here, and it help me appreciate the perfume more. I can feel the white floral, oceanic note, it smell fresh and clean. This is a tropical scent for a person who doesn't live in Tropical area:-)
