The latest perfumes have a surprisingly fresh opening that, in my opinion, resembles the scent of bug spray - not exactly an appealing start. On the other hand, when I revisit my vintage perfume bottles with their distinctive dark yellowish hue, I'm immediately overcome with excitement.
This scent pairs beautifully with crisp autumn breezes and unexpectedly also fares well on mild winter days that feel like early spring. Its invigorating, youthful quality is both refreshing and revitalizing.
Ooh yeah, extremely refined! ๐ผ๐. First, a smooth start with a safety razor, followed by a dash of Clubman Special Reserve, and then two sprays of this majestic scent on the neck - trust me, you'll be unstoppable in the courtroom! ๐
I'm discovering that the concept of 'barbershop' fragrance can be subjective. The classic fougere composition I usually associate with is absent here. To appreciate this scent, one needs to enjoy very powdery and floral men's fragrances. It smells akin to a floral fabric softener with some dusty spices. I'm not picking up on the aromatic, herbaceous, mossy notes others have mentioned in the recent formulation. The overall impression is fairly unisex. I'm unsure about this one; it bears similarities to Antaeus, so if that's your style, you may enjoy this as well.
I'm not impressed with Pour Lui; I wish I hadn't bought it without doing my research first. I disagree with those who claim it doesn't have an old-school vibe - in my opinion, it's definitely not modern. I do enjoy some classic scents, such as Karl Lagerfeld Classic, which has a timeless quality that's reminiscent of my childhood. However, Pour Lui is harsh and lacks depth. After letting it dry down, I found the scent remained largely unchanged, with an unpleasant sharpness that dominated the overall impression. It reminds me of Lalique Pour Homme, but with one or two off notes that clash with the rest of the fragrance. At its price point, I expected more. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this perfume to most people - it's not crowd-pleasing and doesn't have a pleasant scent that's suitable for everyday wear.
