Reviews

Despite being passionate about perfumes, it seems like the people working at "liquides imaginaires" aren't very responsive. They mentioned that the containers for these three fragrances—melancolia, lacrima, and phanthasma—are very delicate, so they don’t ship them. Instead, you have to go directly to their scent bar in Paris if you want to buy one or even smell it. But honestly, unless you're as wealthy as Rockefeller or Bill Gates, it's not really affordable. I tried asking about samples but didn't get any reply. It’s frustrating because these scents sound rare and hard to find, yet they’re so unaccessibly kept under wraps. From now on, I'm vowing to avoid their fragrances entirely. There are so many nice scents out there; it's a shame "liquides imaginaires" can't make things easier for people like me.

This scent is church incense through and through! It’s got a blend of rock myrrh, frankincense, and spiky spikenard with a sharp woody undertone—no sweetness, powder, or flowers here. On me, it’s pure High Mass incense. I don’t mind the drying down with Screamwood, but that synthetic amberwood note is really off-putting for me.

It’s surprisingly fresh for an incense-based fragrance. It has a good projection and lasts around 8.5 hours on me. In the opening, there’s bergamot and a shampoo-like scent (likely from aldehydes), but the strong cardamom in the heart isn’t my favorite. The base features frankincense, benzoin, cedar, and myrrh, with cedar and benzoin lingering the longest. Despite the strong cardamom note, the overall scent still manages to impress. It’s versatile enough to wear year-round—colder months enhance its incense base, while warmer days keep it fresh.

"This perfume really works wonders on my skin. I’ve always wanted a scent that captures the essence of a church—more ethereal and fresh, less smoky. It’s like wearing fresh incense year-round. Lucky me, it works beautifully on my skin with a long-lasting wear of around six hours. It’s a definite favorite of mine!"

I'm totally smitten with this fragrance. It's one of the most sophisticated and clean takes on incense I've ever encountered. While the composition seems simple, it's cleverly crafted to feel refreshing and unique while staying true to classic liturgical-incense vibes. The opening is vibrant, packed with unsweetened citrus notes—mandarine, pamplemousse, and bergamot—that pair perfectly with a soft cardamom touch and maybe a hint of aldehydes. These citruses smell incredibly natural and realistic, unlike the artificial lemony scents often found in modern perfumes. In this phase, Sancti feels sparkling and fresh, almost like an early morning breeze, giving it that wintery chill. The evolution is immediate as the citrusy opening smoothly transitions into a lemony aspect of frankincense. This middle phase evokes the clean scent of church floors, wax, and sunlight streaming through mullioned windows—reminding me of Comme Des Garcons 2 Man but with an extra citrus boost and a more subdued vetiver. There's also a clean, Cardinal-like accord and that white linen vibe reminiscent of Maria Candida Gentile's works. As the fragrance progresses, a subtle smoky base emerges from the back, complementing the drying incense for a satisfying drydown. What truly stands out is this purifying, almost virginal quality. It feels salubrious and pure, smelling white and clean. While it's not bombastic or overly tenacious, its weightless character gives it an ethereal vibe that makes it suitable for any occasion and season. Whether worn on skin or fabric, the incense lingers beautifully. Overall, a fantastic fragrance that deserves a spot in every collection. I give it a solid 8/10.
