Mostly getting that "deep marine" scent profile that lots of different scents go for, things along the lines of Zoologist Squid, Kerosene Walk the Sea, etc. The coconut and florals, while not prominent, do help sweeten this up and make it a lot more mass appealing and presentable, though. I get what people are saying with the gourmand thing, all these "deep marine" type scents feel like something vanillic is helping to achieve that accord, whether it's listed or not. I have absolutely no clue how Guiding Water from The Harmonist has 6 "reminds me of" votes, that's one of my favorite fragrances and other than jasmine there is not one singular shared note between these two. That is an extremely fresh, clean, zingy floral aquatic. This is a deep, sweet, almost dark/warm fragrance. Practically opposites and they smell NOTHING alike.
Fun in the Sun! Okay! So I got this in a 3 pack that I ordered in an online subscription.. The name, notes and even the bottle were intriguing to me.. At first sniff, I was immediately impressed.. How could I not be, this is the art of Rodrigo Flores-Roux.. I love the smell of this! Since I don’t have a bottle of this I can’t give a description for the presentation.. The main player in this juice is the coconut.. It comes off sweet in the opening and turns salty (almost sour) on my skin.. Nonetheless, it still smells amazing.. There is a bit of florals in the mid but not too heavy and I get this ambroxan feel as the sea salt stands out.. it lasts about 4 to 5 hours on my skin.. with great projection in the first 45 min.. This definitely leans a little more feminine on me but not in a bad way.. This is great for those hot days by the pool or beach.. The one knock I have on this is it’s price.. A 100 ML bottle for $195 seems a little steep in my opinion.. Its a great fragrance just a bit pricy.. If you get a sample of this and you like it.. I recommend u look at Batucada by L’artisan Parfumeur very similar.. Batucada is more green and leans more masculine.. And it’s very affordable.. Rating 9.5/10 If it was more affordable it would be a 10/10..
I have Peau by Arquiste and this is almost identical. There are some different nuances, but I think it would be redundant to have both. Edit: This is so darn pleasant, relaxing, and just like a beautiful second skin. This one is growing on me a lot lately.
I've been nursing a sample of Sydney Rock Pool from Arquiste for a year before finally deciding to get another one and eventually purchasing a bottle. To me, it embodies the essence of a perfect marine summer scent—refreshing, versatile, and unisex. While it may not be a showstopper, it offers a little more complexity than your typical fresh fragrance. Considering the price point, I would recommend buying it used or opting for a smaller bottle unless you're fully committed to wearing it as your daily go-to scent. For me, Sydney Rock Pool is ideal when I want to smell pleasant without being overly intrusive. Overall, Sydney Rock Pool is a fragrance that captures the essence of a serene rock pool experience. It's a perfect companion for the summer, evoking a sense of tranquility and relaxation. Whether you're by the beach or simply want to embrace a coastal vibe, this scent will transport you there.
I absolutely love Arquiste's Indigo Smoke and was really excited to try this, because I'm absolutely weak for sunscreen and coconut beach smell, but that screamwood, as previous reviewer @tessture called it, just gives me migraines. Something settles down into a sharp alcohol scent that's just screechy and sharp and incredibly irritating, and is incredibly difficult to wash off. Unfortunately it's a pass.
