TOMT solves a few fragrance “wants” I had on my list. The aromatic peppery opening is serene, calming, meditative… similar to Initio’s Rehab. And if I purchase this, then the juxtaposition of bitter almost black tea (?) and sweet gourmand means I don’t need to purchase Atelier Des Ors’ Blue Madeilene. And finally, the buttery and nutty dry down, which very lightly clings to clothing the morning after, may help me get over missing out on Celine’s Black Tie before it sold out everywhere. This fragrance is a winner.
The Omniscient Mr. Thompson is the Penhaligon’s approach to DHI and VUI scent profile (more similar to Valentino than Dior). I love both of the aforementioned perfumes, but Mr. Thompson is just a step above with its quality ingredients and its English sophistication!!! This is lovely in every possible way!! 👏🏼
I'm so happy it's a love for me! I can see how some people say it smells like Dior Homme Intense but only in the beginning. I also have Guerlain's Iris Torrefie and this does not smell like it. Very peppery, and i feel it's quite lactonic as well, and i definitely get the sesame too. Sweeter than i expected, the dry down almost reminds me of sweetened condensed milk. If I am being honest I was gonna buy this regardless of the scent due to my love of elephants 🙂. This is definitely NOT for Everyone! The pepper and sesame can be overbearing for some. Unisex leaning fem IMO
Fucking beautiful. Smells like jpg Le male le parfum if it was higher quality, not as sweet, but more luxurious, this smells like an old money rich handsome 25yo boy. 9.5/10
This is my favourite penhaligons fragrance oat and I will tell you why. I can amazing this fragrance being worn by a mature man in his 20’s and it is a really mature iris scent with a wonderful gourmand-like dry down because of the vanilla and woody notes. I personally think for the price tag your getting your moneys worth for the smell but the performance is quite disappointing for the £235 your paying. Overall this is a great fragrance and my favourite penhaligons. Longevity 7/10 Sillage 7/10 Smell 9.4/10 Bottle 9.9/10 How much I would pay. 75ml: £180
