For me, this perfume is eerily reminiscent of Zafeer Oud Vanille Alexander J. They share a common accord of vanilla and wood, making it challenging for me to detect distinct differences on hot summer days.
I'm relieved I received a decant to try out this fragrance first, as the initial impression is akin to a pungent fruit-scented ointment, similar to Vick's Vapor Rub. Fortunately, the dry down is more palatable, although it still lacks vanilla notes. Ultimately, I must conclude that this scent isn't for me.
It was a blind purchase for me due to my fondness for vanilla and I discovered that other notes resonated with me as well, resulting in a discounted find.
The first time I caught a whiff of this fragrance, I thought it was quite unappealing, but given the heritage of Lutens, I can see why. Throughout the day, this perfume unfolds in distinct phases, much like a narrative. It transitions from sugary to woody and finally settles into a soft, comforting aroma reminiscent of vanilla and honey candles. While not everyone may appreciate this aspect, it was precisely this moment that won me over – I simply had to have it. The scent reminded me of my friend's mom's house, which was like stepping into a design magazine.
Mmm, a sweet vanilla with an overpowering presence of dry sandalwood! Initially, I thought this perfume would be the most unimpressive in my Serge Lutens sample set, but it pleasantly surprised me. The sandalwood and tonka notes evoke memories of Guerlain's Samsara.
