Thick vanilla caramel rum, chocolate patchouli, soft tonka, subtle woody Oud background. Three types of vanilla make this blend very rich and earthy, like splitting open a vanilla bean and taking a deep breath. Boozy rum is quite strong and is followed closely behind by a chocolate patchouli. The Oud wood is a nice base that gives this blend an added complexity that makes it more interesting. If you enjoy a boozy authentic vanilla scent this is for you. I Plan a getting a bottle.
RE: Lorenzo Pazzaglia's Van Py Rhum, my first instinct is just to tell you that it’s giving slutty bloofer lady and show you Lucy Westenra resplendent in her frilled Eiko Ishioka burial gown because that’s it right there; that’s all you need to know. But there’s a part of me that always makes things harder than they have to be and wants me to do a proper review. So. This is a diabolically sweet, cold-blooded, porcelain-moon vanilla with a buttery sour tang from the damp and rot of the crypt, that, when warmed with the venomous kisses of patchouli’s nocturnal loam, agarwood’s smoky growl and rich, oaken-casked rum, takes on the predatory edge and spectral allure of something that appears after the sun dips below the horizon, something once beloved and familiar, whose undead arms are now ravenously hungry for your embrace.
Solid caramel enveloped by smooth vanilla, a tad of darkness added by patchouli and slight booziness as well. The strange thing with this fragrance though is that it's not that sweet despite the notes, it doesn't smell as creamy as I thought it would... In theory the notes are supposed to please me but the texture of the blend didn't really catch my attention, it is a good fragrance though, just not for me. Performance is over the roof though, it's really great. 6.5/10.
A perfect combination of Vanilla, rum and patchouli perfectly balanced with each other to create a splendid and very sensual fragrance. Vanilla is absolutely the master of this warm and enveloping fragrance, rum and patchouli keep the feminine part of the vanilla at bay to give rise to a perfectly unisex fragrance. It is a very sweet fragrance but Not cloying. Extreme persistence, as well as sillage. Magnificent ! Recommended
If you like cloying, boozy gourmands, you will like this. This was a huge disappointment since it was recommended to me many times. I love vanillas and sweet, dark fragrances, but this smells like straight-up caramel candies. Does the formula have sotolon in it? There is nothing dark or vampiric about it, in my opinion. I also do not find it to be earthy, but rather bright and synthetic smelling.
