I received a 30ml bottle of this perfume as part of a recent promotion from Jo Malone, which was the only option left after choosing my preference. I had previously tried it and found it to be reminiscent of a fresh-out-of-the-shower young man, but wasn't particularly drawn to it at the time. However, now that I've developed a greater appreciation for fragrances, my perception has shifted. Upon application, I detect a juicy and watery opening, which then evolves into herbal and dry notes as it wafts off my skin. When I take a closer sniff, I'm struck by the herbal and peppery undertones, which remind me of sage's natural peppery aroma, similar to the grapefruit note that often produces pepper-like effects on me. As the top notes fade, the herbal, peppery aspect becomes more pronounced, accompanied by a tangy quality that might be attributed to the salted grapefruit. Meanwhile, the musky dry down is reminiscent of ambrette seed, which I've noticed in fragrances like Ariana Grande's God Is a Woman, KKW Nude Sand, and Givenchy's Irresistible - it has an addictive quality that envelops me in a haze of musk. After a few hours, the scent becomes less pronounced, but I can still detect it on my skin. This is consistent with the concentration of this cologne. By the 7-hour mark, I only catch a whiff if I sniff directly at where I applied the fragrance. Compared to other EDTs and EDPs I've tried, this one performs similarly or even better. Overall, I've developed a strong affinity for this scent - it's perfect for warm weather!
This perfume is incredibly captivating, yet it doesn't evoke a marine or coastal atmosphere for me. Instead, it's perfect for wearing to the beach or on scorching hot days when all you want to do is relax...it has a mood-lifting quality that's calming, uplifting, and invigoratingly refreshing. The scent is straightforward, yet exceptionally excellent...grapefruit and sage with a subtle salt note - personally, I don't detect seaweed. It bears some resemblance to VS Bombshell and its body mist counterpart, but this is an upscale, unisex version that's significantly more refined and smooth. If I come across a good deal, I'll consider purchasing it...I'd love my living space to smell like this during the summer, so I might even buy the candle too. The longevity is approximately 5-6 hours, with soft sillage but moderate projection when applied liberally. While it's overpriced considering its performance, it truly smells outstanding!
Typically JM perfumes have a distinct scent profile that lives up to their namesake. However, I don't pick up on any woody, herbal or salty notes here. It's simply a straightforward lemon fragrance that fails to impress me. What's the fuss about?! Rocks are actually more captivating in terms of their essence.
When I put on a perfume, I crave it to evoke something distinct. My issue with this scent is that it fails to transport me to any particular place or idea; instead, it simply smells pleasant but utterly generic, much like a comfortable white t-shirt - familiar and unremarkable. As someone who adores wearing crisp white tees, I'm not seeking the same blandness in my perfumes.
This perfume holds a special place in my heart as it was gifted to me during my high school days and has become synonymous with cherished memories. Due to its sentimental value, I find it challenging to evaluate this fragrance objectively. The scent is androgynous yet leans towards masculinity, much like the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest where misty beaches meet rocky shores. It's a unisex fragrance that might suit men better, but I wouldn't discourage women who appreciate aquatic, slightly herbal notes from indulging in its charms to attract someone special.
