Or des Scythes is unapologetically bold, boasting an almost avant-garde flair reminiscent of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, radiating grandeur yet faltering slightly due to its moderate longevity. The scent is akin to walking into a lavish 19th-century Russian ballroom, surrounded by opulent drapes and dimly lit chandeliers, with a choreographed dance of notes expertly conducted by Petipa himself.
While I can appreciate the complexity of this fragrance, our chemistry just doesn't mesh. At first, I pick up on strong apple, aldehydes, and green notes that initially please my senses, but soon the apple develops an unpleasantly browned tone, and the scent turns sour. The aldehydes fade away rapidly, revealing a prominent oakmoss presence alongside a dominant carnation note. On my skin, the overall effect is akin to a sour leather aroma. I must admit, I don't detect any peach or jasmine on me.
Warm and cozy, feminine scent. It's as if a fragrant pie has been baked in a wooden house and tea is being brewed.
The perfume is inspired by the legendary Scythian warrior women, known as Amazons to the ancient Greeks, who were revered for their bravery in battle. Unfortunately, the accompanying image does not showcase the beautiful packaging featuring a golden torque, reminiscent of the treasure buried with these fierce female warriors.
A sophisticated blend of sweet aldehydes, red apple, and ylang-ylang, conveying a sense of luxurious indulgence. I concur that it's an ideal choice for warm evenings in August or September. To me, it's a refined evening perfume perfect for dressing up. The impressive value for the price is just the icing on the cake, accompanied by remarkable longevity and pronounced sillage.
