Hard Candy is an American cosmetics company, founded in 1995 by Iranian American sisters Dineh Mohajer and Pooneh Mohajer and Benjamin A. Einstein. The product that was first launched by the company was nail polish a shade of baby blue named "Sky". Dineh mixed it herself to match her sandals. Since many of her friends liked the polish, she decided to start selling it. The first sales were done at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, and later ones to other top retailers such as Nordstroms . The company got a great promotion by actress Alicia Silverstone who was one of the fans of their nail polish. Ben and Dineh soon started their appearances on MTV House of Style and several ads. Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH), who owns Donna Karan, Givenchy, Sephora, TAG Heuer, and Veuve Clicquot, acquired Hard Candy in 1999. This was crucial for greater distribution and popularity of Hard Candy. The brand was then sold to Falic Fashion, a company focusing on the duty-free market. In 2009 Hard Candy became more available to mass public due to their deal with Wal-Mart to take the brand to mass. A lot of attention was paid to design and marketing of the brand’s products. NuWorld Beauty and Wal-Mart have worked together for over a year on the marketing concept, product creation and package development of Hard Candy. The current owner kept some of the original Hard Candy products, among them their iconic nail polish, and introduced new products, such as Kaleyedescope Baked Eyeshadow, Eye Tattoo, Press-On Eyeshadow and Take Me Out Eyeliner. Hard Candy is particularly popular for putting user-friendly products into cool little packages. The brand always brings what is hot, trendy, and totally cool. Their products are fun and functional. Hard Candy entered the world of perfumery in 2007. Their first perfume, Hard Candy, is a Floral Fruity Gourmand fragrance for women. Top notes of the fragrance are white tea, rhubarb and pink pepper; middle notes are passionfruit, jasmine and rose; and base notes close with cashmere musk, vanilla, caramel and cedar Designer Hard Candy has 4 perfumes in our fragrance base. The earliest edition was created in 2002 and the newest is from 2017. The nose who worked on the fragrances is Barbara Zoebelein.
