Character: This perfume commences with a warm and fruity amber accord that sets the tone for its development. Notable components include amber, whiskey, vanilla, orange, sugar, and malt, resulting in a fairly sweet and inviting fragrance. Performance: The scent has a moderate intensity and longevity of around 6-8 hours. Its sillage is relatively subtle, projecting approximately 1-2 feet from the skin. Notes: While I find this perfume enjoyable, it doesn't quite captivate me entirely. It bears a resemblance to a bakery aroma, albeit with a distinctive boozy malt and amber that gives it a whiskey-inspired character. Unfortunately, I don't detect sufficient wood, spice, or peat to elevate it to exceptional status as a whiskey fragrance. Instead, it leans more towards an old-fashioned scent with a sweet twist. This perfume works well as a cozy evening fragrance, particularly during the fall or winter seasons, and I would rate it 7 out of 10.
Happy New Year! I've reserved this fragrance for tonight as I knew I wouldn't be socializing. On a quiet night in, it has impressive projection. The scent is silky smooth, rich, and harmoniously blended. The opening is lovely and recalls the original A*men but is more inviting, fresh, and less intense. It's very laid-back, romantic, and doesn't overpower, so I'll definitely use it on date nights for sure. The whisky in this fragrance is masterfully blended and gentle compared to newer releases from designers like Halloween (X) and Baldessarini (Ambre Oud), more akin to Carolina Herrera (CH Men Prive). While the patchouli, musk, and cedar maintain a traditional masculine component, the smoothness from vanilla and amber make this scent surprisingly unisex. Compared to others in my collection, it reminds me of a better blended, more pleasing Pure Black (by Mandarina Duck). This is an exceptional fragrance, and a significant improvement over the original for me. It might even be one of my top ten favorites. Best wishes for a healthy and safe 2022.
