I've had the pleasure of sampling numerous perfumes over the past three decades, and I must say that this particular scent is truly unique. Its loud, strong, and in-your-face quality has captivated me completely. I'm absolutely enamored with its clean, fruity, rosy, and lychee notes, which meld together in a way that's simply mesmerizing. To be honest, I've become quite hooked on it โ my students often complain that the scent makes them queasy, while the headteacher always remarks on how refreshing the air smells when we're discussing something.
Let's start by acknowledging that this perfume was an unexpected purchase. I sensed familiarity with its scent and it dawned on me: the opening notes with a tangy kick and woody undertones eerily mirror those of Rose 01, but as the initial rush subsides, the two fragrances begin to diverge in distinct ways.
Here's the rewritten comment: I've reviewed Angel Nova EDP and compared it to Delina Exclusif since they share similar notes (I applied one to each arm and compared them side-by-side). Nova is a straightforward fragrance with little surprises. At first, you get a blast of raspberry and litchi, which smells like a Jolly Rancher candy. The opening is very tart. After a few minutes, Nova's damask rose starts to emerge along with the benzoin and akigalawood. As the scent settles in, it becomes a warm rose fragrance by 10-15 minutes. This isn't a complex or unusual Mugler scent; instead, it's like Bath & Body Works or Victoria's Secret wanted to create an affordable version of Delina and its flankers. Delina Exclusif opens differently for me - it immediately smells like strong candied roses. Nova starts out more tart and fruity, evolving into a rose smell after 10-15 minutes, while Delina Exclusif begins with dominant sweet rose and evolves into something more tart at the same point. By that time, Nova has become warm and rosy, making it more wearable, whereas Delina Exclusif emerges as more tart on me. Delina Exclusif packs a lot of punch - you get sweet roses, tart fruits, and oud-incense-amber-vanilla-woody notes. It's overwhelming, and I'm in the process of selling my bottle because it's almost too much. Parfums de Marly should release an EDT of this fragrance (not La Rosee). As a result, I find Nova more pleasant and wearable. Delina Exclusif is beautiful but its tartness lingers too long with other notes, making it verge into cloying. By now, my senses are exhausted, but compared to Delina Exclusif, I can barely smell Nova anymore. Nova isn't a dupe for Delina Exclusif, but it gives a similar vibe as it dries down after an hour. Delina Exclusif has all the layers and complexity you'd expect from a niche fragrance, so you'll have to test it out to see if it's right for you. After 20-30 minutes, Delina Exclusif still smells like a scent bomb on my arm, with tart fruits waning into something more pleasant. In comparison, Nova is a two-dimensional warm rose scent, which isn't necessarily bad. In summary, I think Nova is worth about $65 on the grey market. However, it's not a must-have. There's nothing in Nova that resembles Angel, so Mugler is simply reusing the name for marketing purposes. I got a travel spray for $13 on Mercari and I'm happy with that. So start there and see if it's worth investing in a bigger bottle.
I was taken aback when I discovered how much I adored this perfume ๐. Upon first sniffing, it struck me as a sophisticated take on Britney Spears' Fantasy, with its fresh, tart opening and sweet, juicy heart ๐ธ. For my nose, both perfumes share a gourmand quality, although Fantasy leans more in that direction ๐. Angel Nova's unique blend is characterized by rose and raspberries, creating a lovely floral-fruitiness ๐. The distinguishing feature is the drydown โ whereas Fantasy has a typical woody-musk accord, Angel Nova exhibits a woodier dry down, adding a mature edge to its fruitiness ๐ฒ. This subtle shift makes it suitable for both warm and cold weather conditions โ๏ธ๐จ. Overall, I found Angel Nova to be a sexy and fun powerhouse that lasts all day with just one spray ๐ช.
I truly had high hopes for this perfume. It was my initial investment in a higher-end fragrance. Thankfully, I've finally exhausted the bottle, as it failed to retain its allure over time. Although it didn't have great longevity on my skin, when it did linger, I appreciated its revitalizing and whimsical qualities.
