When I discovered Bois D'Armenie, I felt like I stumbled upon a cozy haven. The scent envelops me in deep comfort, conjuring images of a warm, crackling fire that never flickers out - its longevity of over 12 hours is truly remarkable. To my nose, it's one of the most perfect oriental woodies I've had the pleasure of trying, and I've sampled many in search of a similar gem. It's undeniably sensual, evoking daydreams and captivating my senses to the point where I couldn't help but purchase a bottle as soon as possible.

The expertly crafted perfume by Annick Menardo, which surprisingly wins me over despite my typical aversion to dominant notes such as pink pepper, incense, and guaiac wood, as each note blends harmoniously into a rich tapestry, making it challenging to distinguish most of the individual components except for the benzoin and patchouli.

Dark As Wood by Fragrance World truly embodies the essence of Guerlain's Bois d'Armenie, and its exceptional quality is what led me to purchase two bottles of this extraordinary fragrance. The masterful blend of vanilla, iris, and incense creates a smooth, creamy texture that never becomes overwhelming. This indulgent scent is perfectly suited for upscale occasions, including important business meetings, and I believe it would excel in autumn, winter, or spring settings. While it might be too rich for South African summer days, it should be suitable for evening wear. Dark As Wood exudes luxury, sophistication, and sensuality, making it one of my top fragrance purchases this year.

I'm utterly charmed by this perfume, but unfortunately, it won't work for me... 🙃 It occupies a unique spot in my perfume Venn diagram, alongside Baque, Or du Serail, Korrigan, and possibly Oud Maliki - the exact order of creation is irrelevant to me. What matters is when I discovered these scents, and they predate Bois D'Armenie for me... 💡
