Notes

This perfume showcases a captivating Oriental profile with intricately woven notes. The bold floral presence adds depth without becoming overpowering, making it an elegant scent that's not suitable for everyday wear. Among Amouage's offerings, I find Reflection and Honour Woman or Ciel to be more impressive; Dia, while commendable, leans towards the oriental style rather than a traditional western fragrance.
My personal perfume experience, recorded for my own reference. I have mixed feelings about this one. At first spray, it strikes me as reminiscent of a musky men's shaving soap from a bygone era. The kind you'd find in an old trunk left behind in the attic of a house that's been put up for auction after its elderly occupant has passed away. The dry down is marginally more pleasant, with subtle floral and woody notes emerging. However, I feel like this scent is geared towards an older demographic - one that I'm not part of just yet. Frankly, it smells as if the perfume has gone off, with a strong cleaning product undertone that would be unflattering on any human skin. Other reviewers have praised its Aldehyde notes, but I'm starting to think "Aldehyde" is simply a euphemism for a scent that's overly antiseptic and unpleasant.
Let's train our noses and refrain from misleading others with exaggerated claims. It's unfair to compare perfumes like Light Blue D&G and Opium YSL, saying they're almost identical when that's not entirely accurate. Instead, we should say "it reminds me a little" or "I'm not sure 100%" to avoid deceiving others and wasting their money on blind purchases.
My absolute favorite perfume, Dia, is truly exceptional! It harks back to the golden era of perfumery, circa 60-80. While some reviewers liken it to Chanel No. 5, I find such comparisons utterly misguided and even misleading - only someone unfamiliar with both scents might make this mistake ๐. In reality, I have a strong dislike for Chanel No. 5 ๐ซ and wouldn't have fallen in love with Dia if they were similar! ๐ The perfume boasts wonderful vintage notes from Madam Rochas, making it challenging to compare it even to Climat - although the latter is similar, only slightly ๐ค. I'm flabbergasted that people would dare compare Dia to Rive Gauche ๐ฒ - these two are vastly different, an unbridgeable gap! ๐ฅ
If I were to amplify the soapy characteristic in Amouage Gold Women, I would essentially arrive at the essence of Amouage Dia Woman. This scent embodies an refined lady who has just emerged from a scorching hot shower, having used top-tier rose-scented French-milled soap.
