Reviews

I recently had the opportunity to test L'Artisan's new fragrance, which I'd describe as a groundbreaking tuberose scent that defies convention. Unlike other tuberose perfumes that often exhibit buttery or coconutty notes, this one offers a refreshing twist. At first, it presents itself with fresh and fruity accords, including mango and a sweet, candy-like quality – although this is just the beginning, as the heart of the fragrance reveals a lush, white floral bouquet with an impressive "oomph" factor. I particularly appreciate the beautiful hints of orange blossom and tuberose, which are both present and pleasant without any dominant buttery or coconutty notes. Additionally, there's a subtle medicinal quality reminiscent of aromatic herbal cough syrup – perhaps due to the presence of angelica? Overall, this scent is quite dense and has a thick, summery feel similar to L'Occitane Neroli. While it may not be lightweight, I find Nuit de Tubereuse to be a very pleasant, alluring fragrance that's perfect for summer evenings or daytime wear without overapplication – characteristic of L'Artisan's style, which is often measured and refined.

If you're a fan of bold pepper scents, Nuit de Tubereuse might be your ideal fragrance. Unfortunately, I'm not a lover of pepper and was underwhelmed by its dominance in this scent. For me, it's like nails on a chalkboard – the pepper overpowers any delicate notes of tuberose, ylang-ylang, or citrus, leaving only a strong, pungent aroma on my skin. The clove is almost undetectable beneath the pepper and cardamom's weight. I'm particularly sensitive to pepper in fragrances; it usually drowns out other notes for me. If you're as sensitive as I am, test Nuit de Tubereuse before committing to a purchase – I ended up removing it from my skin due to its overpowering pepperiness, and even then, I couldn't shake off the feeling of obnoxious pepper lingering on my skin for hours.

While body chemistry may play a role, I find that Fracas, Carnal Flower, and other benchmark tuberoses differ from this one in my opinion. The drydown strikes me as rather masculine and has a medicinal edge reminiscent of Tuberose Criminale. While I can appreciate the tuberose note, I think this scent would be more suited to a man's tastes.

This perfume unleashes a bold blend of creamy, waxy ylang and tuberose, ideal for warm weather and evoking feelings of sunshine and peppery zest. While it's not understated, its white floral essence is expertly balanced thanks to high-quality ingredients, which prevent any overwhelming sensations. Unlike many perfumes that rely on sharp aldehydes, this one avoids such jarring notes, ensuring a comfortable wear. With medium-to-long-lasting longevity and an unmistakably feminine character, I find it cheerful and agreeable, drying down into a subtle musk with lingering hints of ylang-ylang. Although not inexpensive, the scent successfully transports me to tropical paradises, reminiscent of flowers worn behind the ear or wrapped in a flowy sarong – perfect for pairing with sunscreen.

Unfortunately, it's the only fragrance from this magnificent brand that doesn't resonate with me. I generally appreciate subtle tuberose notes in perfumes, yet this one is a nauseating, extremely sticky scent that lingers indefinitely. It would be lovely if its projection was more moderate, like Cote D'amour's signature silage.
