Pavillon Rouge

I don’t agree that this is a unisex fragrance. This is very much masculine to my nose

I love this one. Rich and indulgent. Sometimes I find the sesame a little too strong, imparting a kind of anise flavour I don't enjoy. Then it settles and everything is fine. Something to wear whilst enjoying a decent aged tipple in a cigar lounge in Cayo Coco, bathed in jazz. This is what I'd hoped for in Jazz Club.

For me, tobacco dominates the top notes. This is like taking the lid off a tin of Golden Vanilla; it’s like tobacco before you have made it into a cigarette. It takes me straight back to my childhood when my father would roll his own cigarettes. He would buy Golden Virginia in tins about 3” across. I used to use the empty tins for all sorts of things - a money box, beads - and the scent of the tobacco never completely disappeared. If you’re familiar with the tobacco note in Habanita or Portrayal, this is quite different. They are like a faint scent of cigarette in an empty room; this is rich and bold. In spite of that, it retreats after the first few minutes or the spice and rum come forward and what you get is more of an accord. Again, the spice brings back a memory. This time it is of driving through London’s dock lands in the 1960s. When you passed the warehouses where spices were unloaded and stored, the scent was quite overpowering. These aren’t sweet spices in cake or mulled wine, they are dry and almost antiseptic in their effect as they are in Pavillon Rouge. Hours later, all that is left is the faintest trace of Golden Virginia. I suspect this is a perfume that will elicit strong reactions. I don’t like it but I can imagine someone else loving it.

Excellent Fragrance ! Elegant, Classy, Sophisticated, Boozy, Spicy and Unique. I tried it in store and I received a sample of that. This is on my Radar and I must try again. In my opinion, It has a masterful and Well-blended Composition. The Tobacco note is very unique in this perfume. It opens up with slightly sweet, warm spicy, boozy and Tobacco note in the background then dry down is semi sweet Ambery and Woody with Tobacco vibe undertone. Longevity is good. It smells similar to the box of cigarettes. Thumbs Up. Rating : 8 / 10

The crème de la crème of boozy tobacco fragrances. This smells exactly like a humidor of unlit fine cuban cigars, Demerara sipping rum (think El Dorado 12yr Old), dark woods (ebony) and a few spices. This is the fragrance for men who like wearing suits, sipping fine spirits and smoking fine cigars. Sadly it has a limited sillage but I'm glad it's not over-the-top either. It could be too much, but it sits quietly in the background, giving people little whiffs of these wondrous notes. I wish I could find it on discounters. I'll have to bite the bullet and pay retail for it. It belongs on my shelf amongst my favourites.
