It's astonishing how our preferences can evolve over time. Initially, I found this Creed to be unremarkable, but revisiting it now has led me to regard it as one of the top 5 Creeds. The understated elegance is truly exceptional, and I've come to appreciate it more than Millesime Imperial, which was an instant love for me. This scent exudes a charismatic beauty that sets it apart from other summer fragrances, which often feel formulaic and lacking in substance.
Gorgeous, in fact, Creed Royal Water shares striking similarities with Clive Christian's 1872 Masculine in its citrus profile. While the latter has a more pronounced floral presence, I find that Creed RW is decidedly more aquatic and revitalizing. With a substantially higher concentration of notes, 1872 undoubtedly boasts a richer, longer-lasting quality. In contrast, Creed RW presents itself as cooling, minty, and exquisitely suited for warm days.
This fragrance is a hidden treasure that leaves a lasting impression with its remarkable longevity of 4-6 hours and strong initial projection that lasts for two to three hours. Its distinctive citrus-juniper blend makes it stand out from the rest, drawing attention from others who appreciate its uniqueness. While I find it has a stronger masculine bent, the ambergris drydown is truly captivating.
It's pleasant, yet I've been informed that it has a pungent scent when someone else smells it on my hand, reminiscent of lemons and "old people". Strangely, it bears a striking similarity to actual lemon pledge, which is unfortunate because I'm a fan of the brand. Additionally, the fragrance doesn't linger for very long, and I wouldn't liken this to 1872. While it shares some similarities with that one, it doesn't evoke the same memories.
Gigantic citrus and spicy green accords dominate the scent profile. This fragrance has an unmistakable vintage quality reminiscent of traditional men's perfumes from Creed.
