What can I say. It's a summer evening and as I sit in my air-conditioned bedroom after a long shower, I apply this perfume to my left wrist. The scent is immediate - a nice, yet familiar combination of sweet and pungent labdanum musk that reminds me of Zoologist Musk Deer. However, just about 7 minutes later, the labdanum disappears, leaving behind a dry, medicinal vetiver and guaiac, which is similar to Oriza Legrand Vetier Royal Bourbon. After some time, I'm convinced I can smell sandalwood and cacao, reminiscent of Santal Majuscule's creamy and bright notes. I wanted to relive the opening so I reapplied a new spray to my right wrist and OMG! The opening is completely different this time - no sweet labdanum or musk, just very green hay and cacao powder. Eventually, both wrists transform into strong chocolate wood, eerily similar to Nasomatto Pardon.
The opening notes are surprisingly juxtaposed, with a dry herbal vetiver giving way to sweet, mild herbal-chocolaty undertones that I find slightly discordant. However, the base note is unexpectedly pleasant and reminiscent of traditional, classic perfumes, featuring a prominent oakmoss component that creates an old-school foundation.
Surprisingly, the initial floral notes and Vetiver burst gave way to a soft and airy quality. While I expected a more pronounced mossy presence, reminiscent of the tester experience, there was a subtle hint of "swamp" that emerged.
Now this vetiver was truly delightful! It's refreshing to find a vetiver that resonates with me. The chocolate notes temper the earthy vetiver nicely, resulting in a wonderful fragrance. I'm inclined to give it another try.
This fragrance presents a complex bouquet that combines notes of dry herbaceousness with a grounding earthiness, underscored by warm woody and powdery undertones, all balanced by a sweet and amber-rich sweetness.
