I fell in love with this and I don't care if Summer is coming. This shall be my scent. It's a bit of a skin scent, so maybe seasons don't apply. I must say, this scent to me fits a gloomier mood. It's almost introspective. That said, it is also chic and very social occasion-appropriate. She is either a rich lady, a hipster sporting the vintage style, or the cat lady. Maybe she is all of the above. Or maybe she just likes a warm, fluffy blanket of vanilla-makeup-powderiness.
It's mostly a powdery heliotrope fragrance with slightly almondy-cherry undertones, later dries down to soft vanilla with a strange medicinal note (is it the liquidambar?). No violet, no iris. Sweet, but not a definitely gourmand perfume.
Like Shalimar
Unsophisticated warm powdery sweet thing. that generous "new iris" blast at the start, that I can actually taste (what IS that stuff?), lasts thankfully for only a few moments. followed by some heliotrope. dries down to a sugarsweet vanilla amber.
Violet Ida is a beauty alright. But not at first sniff. I blind bought this because it has vanilla and the powdery notes I love, but also because of the positive reviews. Now the opening is very sharp and the carrot seeds comes through immediately. I don’t know why this is a note at all. I don’t want to smell like dirty vegetables. But after a while it disappears and the vanilla and the flowers absolutely mesmerized me when it dried down. It has that lipsticky, powdery scent that borderlines to vintage but it leans more modern. I am very happy with this one, but spray it at least half an hour before you go out. That is if you don’t want to smell like carrots of course. With this said it is not a safe blind buy, it is hard to find samples though. But if you are a hardcore fan of powdery scents then go for it!
