Reviews

I sat next to a woman on the train yesterday and I was sure she was wearing EL's Cinnabar and was surprised as I hadn't smelled the latter in years. I happened by chance to try Wood Mystique and feel that this certainly resembles Cinnabar with very little oud!

I'm not sure about my feelings toward this fragrance, i find it a little bit aggressive and more suited for men, despite the sweetness!! It is so spicy and leathery, i can touch a hint of woodiness but nothing overwhelming!! Not my cup of tea!!

Trying it for the first time today, it was a blind buy... And I still can't recover my sight. I mean, it smells good, but it's sooooo close to the skin. The smell is just pure rose and raspberry to me (like a very watered version of "Tea Rose" by TPW and a very fruity raspberry). Although it feels very natural, 2 hours have gone by and I can't detect anything if I move my neck from side to side or up and down. An initial disappointment for me. I'll review it again if I find it better in time, but to be the first wearing (15+ sprays) this is not what I was expecting for the price. Greetings from Chile!

This should be called Fleur Mystique. It's way more floral, juicy, sweet and feminine than I expected. I expected heavy woods with tinges of flowers, but this is big juicy sweet raspberry, flowers, resins and spices with touches of wood and a very faint oud. The voted notes here are completely off for me. The longevity and sillage are great and this is available quite cheap online. It is definitely not for me, but it's pleasant.

From reading the reviews here, it seems like each person is smelling something different coming from the same bottle. For me, this blind buy from about a year ago, was nice at first smell. But, I wasn't blown away. I decided to keep it, however, and it has grown on me. I wouldn't call it unisex, but sexless. Something you'd wear just to smell nice before going to a nice or dressy daytime occasion. This isn't a statement scent. It's sort of a recollective type scent, for me at least. For instance, great grandpa's old bottle of hair tonic that was discontinued decades ago. Or, the ornamental bath salts that no one dared use that sat in a dish in grandma's or your great aunt's bathroom. For me it is a very light, sweet woody/rosy/fruity. There is a candylike quality to it. As a man, I can understand this wouldn't be every guy's first choice. However, there are times when a scent like this is suitable, especially if you like variety. Maybe a Christmas Sunday church service, for example. You won't get much projection from a couple of sprays, but longevity is fairly decent.
