Reviews

Not quite what I anticipated, but I must admit that this iteration of Mon Guerlain stands out from the others with its pleasant character. It's easy to see why they've dubbed it Bloom of Rose, as the rose note emerges quickly while the lavender provides a subtle backdrop alongside some lively citrus accents. This perfume shares some similarities with Miss Dior in terms of its rosy tone, yet also retains the warm and sweet qualities that are characteristic of Mon Guerlain. I'd say this scent is lovely and well-suited for spring and summer.

I previously had a lukewarm opinion of Bloom of Rose when I first tried it, but after revisiting it following my experience with Mon Guerlain, I have developed a greater understanding of its nuances. Upon reflection, I recall that in 2019 I thought the scent would be more fittingly named "Whiff of Wedding Cake" due to its prominent vanilla note, but MG's rich vanilla presence has rendered this aspect of BoR virtually inconsequential. This contrast is akin to comparing apples and oranges - or, more specifically, vanilla and citrus. I believe that Guerlain aimed to create a non-gourmand alternative for those who aren't fond of gourmand scents, and based on the mixed reviews, I think they succeeded in this endeavor. Bloom of Rose presents a fresh, green rose note reminiscent of its bud, distinct from the cozy, vanilla-infused approach taken with Mon Guerlain. These two interpretations of Guerlain's signature rose accord cater to different audiences and are both well-executed.

I impulsively purchased this fragrance due to my admiration for Mon Guerlain, but in hindsight, I should have consulted the notes and reviews more thoroughly because unfortunately, this flanker didn't resonate with me. A sour note combines with the rose and lavender in a way that I couldn't adapt to, ultimately leading me to give it away as a gift to my mother-in-law.

I concur that this fragrance stands out from the other offerings in the Mon Guerlain range. Nevertheless, I believe it's a harmonious addition to the lineup; layering it with either MG or MG Florale would likely enhance its beauty. To my nose, the neroli is the most prominent note throughout the duration of the scent, starting from the initial spritz and persisting through the dry-down. The sillage and longevity are surprisingly impressive compared to other perfumes in this range. A small amount goes a long way; individuals who struggle with anosmia when wearing MG and MG Florale (like myself) might find that this fragrance effectively breaks this pattern. Initially, I found the neroli overpowering, but it settles into the dry-down while still maintaining its dominance. I can detect a subtle rose presence now, although it's as if it's hiding behind the neroli, only revealing itself from certain angles. The dry down is a lovely, clean, and fresh fragrance that reminds me of a more robust Hugo Boss Femme. I was initially uncertain about this perfume, but it has grown on me. I might end up purchasing this one as well. Update: I've found that layering MG Florale with Mon Guerlain Bois de République produces a delightful combination. Additionally, I recently discovered that this is an EDT flanker, which is astonishing given its strength and longevity surpass those of the EDPs.

This perfume unleashes an initial sensation akin to plunging one's face into a freshly laundered cashmere jumper straight from the dryer. The citrus and lavender notes cleverly evoke the scent of laundry detergent, while the subtle vanilla and sandalwood provide a snug, cozy ambiance reminiscent of a chilly morning with a soft candle burning in the hallway. As it dries down, the warmth of the other fragrance notes persists. Nonetheless, at all times, it maintains a refreshing, watery quality that is subtly floral and aromatic.
