Reviews

I ended up writing another review for this perfume because my initial impression changed after revisiting it. The samples were so compelling that I decided to purchase a bottle myself—and it’s now my go-to fragrance for the summer season. The top notes of Sicilian orange and basil hit me as especially juicy and invigorating, even compared to other perfumes I’ve tried with similar accords. The patchouli drydown is one of the most stunning patches I’ve encountered. It’s not often that a summer eau de cologne manages to balance both weight and complexity, but this one truly nails it. I’ve had countless compliments—so much so that one of my colleagues even sat down in my office just to inhale it. This makes me realize how important it is to test summer scents during warm weather, as the experience can shift significantly with a rise in temperature.

This perfume is the one I reach for more than any other. Though it's not my absolute favorite, I believe #19 holds that title for me. It has a unique and sophisticated scent that’s perfect for daily wear and never feels overwhelming. With a classic elegance reminiscent of Chanel's clean and fresh style, this fragrance stands out from the everyday scents I often encounter. Spraying it brings back memories of the Amalfi coast, as if it captures the essence of those memorable moments. Every time I spray it, I'm transported to those coastal memories, which might explain why I reach for it so often.

I recently tried the 2018 Chanel Paris-Deauville, which features lime and basil notes inspired by a rural seaside resort. While another lime and basil cologne from a different brand has always given me headaches, this one is perfectly balanced with refreshing green notes. It also has a floral depth that reminds me of Chanel Aide. The whole scent feels fresh and outdoorsy, almost like being in a garden.

This perfume is an incredible blend of Allure Sensuelle EDT and Coromandel—it’s absolutely addictive. I picked up the 1.7 oz version today, and I can’t wait to see how it evolves throughout the season.

Paris-Deauville opens with a lively blend of citrus and basil, immediately striking as fresh and energizing. The top notes are bright and tangy, with lime and lemon taking center stage, offering a crisp start. As the scent evolves, a subtle orange note emerges, providing a dry, slightly spicy tone that adds depth to the citrus base. Petitgrain adds a subtle complexity, enhancing the bright opening. The heart of the fragrance features rose and a more subdued version of the brand's jasmine, creating a balanced floral bouquet that avoids being overly feminine. The base notes introduce a clean, green patchouli that elegantly intertwines with the citrus and floral elements, creating a delightful interplay of layers. The overall composition feels high-quality, though it lacks the longevity expected from some heavier perfumes. In terms of wearability, Paris-Deauville is perfect for light, summery days, offering moderate projection and a refined elegance despite its modest longevity. While the bottle may not reach the sophistication of Chanel's absolute best, it remains attractively designed. The cap feels a tad cheap, but this doesn't detract from the fragrance's overall appeal. The atomizer is particularly noteworthy, enhancing the application process. Priced reasonably for a luxury house, Paris-Deauville is a subtle yet sophisticated scent that exudes quality. If you appreciate citrus-floral perfumes with a touch of patchouli and want something that feels both elegant and approachable, this is a worthwhile investment.
