It’s a carrot scent… distinctive and unexpected! After exploring countless perfume reviews and opinions from various bloggers, I ended up detecting a fresh, chopped carrot aroma—though only for the initial 10 minutes. While I understand that fragrance perceptions can vary widely, this is the first time I’ve encountered such a vivid, vegetable-driven scent myself!
A lot to ponder here, so let's dive into my thoughts. This scent immediately stands out as a JCE creation, which could be overwhelming if applied too much. It seems tailored for an extroverted woman or someone embodying that classic French style—maybe with a beret and a snug striped tee. I catch hints of Boy Chanel influence here and there. If you're familiar only with Tuscan Leather, you might not detect any leather notes. The scent feels minty, peppery, rosy, and vibrant. Comparisons to Gallop d'Hermes come to mind—it's more refined, timeless, and likely has better longevity. I also prefer A Kiss From a Rose by Kilian for its unisex appeal and broader appeal. Rose & Cuir would have been perfectly named "French Lover," matching the kitschy vibe of the scent. While this isn't a criticism, it's clear this fragrance won't resonate with everyone. Still, I appreciate its unique qualities and look forward to seeing how it works on others. Remember, buy what you love!
The leather really complements and enhances the rose in this fragrance. This scent never feels overwhelming or heavy-handed. It’s perfectly balanced and designed to appeal equally to everyone, making it a great choice for any gender. The geranium adds a light, bright element that rounds out the overall impression. JCE is absolute brilliance. Their creativity truly shines in this masterpiece.
This perfume is heavy on geranium and vetiver, with a clean rose note and a subtle leather undertone that gives it a chewy, styrax-like background. It feels really clean and astringent, almost cold or austere. When I sniffed it on myself, my partner mentioned something that reminded me of pea pods—like that dry, bitter greenness you get when you snap open peas. To me, this perfume feels lean and green, though I know not to gender anything these days. It’s all about personal association, and for me, this brings to mind a sophisticated, elegant person who might wear well-coordinated leather accessories. My partner even said it reminded him of pea pods, which I can totally get. Clean, classic vetiver and geranium often remind me of well-put-together men’s fragrances. It’s clean, elegant, and astringent—perfect for hot summer days or nights!
No leather or rose on me. Just a mix of sweet citrus and a smoky, dirty ashtray note. It’s kind of strange.
