Reviews

I initially made an error in my review. This fragrance is lovely, with a powdery, slightly vintage character that's not too grandmotherly. It shares a similar DNA with Chanel No. 5 L'Eau, so if you enjoy the latter, you'll likely appreciate this one even more! However, I did notice that after an hour, it fades significantly and becomes a skin scent without much longevity. Given that I can get the same quality from Chanel No. 5 L'Eau with better lasting power, I'm hesitant to justify the extra cost. 😊

This perfume boasts an exceptionally smooth aroma, impressing me with its cleanliness and uplifting properties. Its dry-down has a subtle resemblance to dryer sheets, but one that is undeniably alluring.

This is one of my favorite dry downs from any perfume. It's a luxurious scent that can be described as "my skin but better". The fragrance really only projects for the first hour, and then I'm left with the most beautiful skin-like scent imaginable, utterly clean, absolutely high class, exquisite.

This alluring fragrance is akin to a gentle zephyr that softly caresses the senses with its intricate, multifaceted aroma accords. Upon application, it radiates on the skin, revealing nuances of white musk, bergamot, iris, neroli, cedar, and royal powder, sweetened by honey's gentle warmth. As the scent unfolds, fresh aldehydes initially take center stage, accompanied by orange blossom's subtle charm. These aldehydes intermittently weave in and out of the fragrance as it evolves over time. However, it is the musk that truly shines, harmoniously blending with each subtle note to create a masterful composition. This perfume maintains a moderate sillage within arm's reach and exudes a distinct presence throughout its prolonged longevity of several hours. I am thoroughly impressed by this clean, refreshing scent that tantalizes the senses with its beautiful aromas.

When I initially received this as a gift alongside Sublime Bois des Iles, I was immediately smitten. However, my enthusiasm was short-lived, as the scent started strong but quickly disappeared from my skin. Or so I thought. I began to wonder if I was anosmic to musk, and while I felt a powdery freshness, I couldn't understand why others appreciated it more. It wasn't until I realized that my mistake lay in over-spraying that I truly came to appreciate how 1957 unfolds and lingers for an extended period despite its light character. This fragrance is indeed intimate - it doesn't announce itself loudly, but rather beckons when allowed close proximity, perhaps even with a hug. It was only when I became aware of my tendency to over-spray that I discovered the issue one day while testing TF Jasmin Rouge on my hand. A single spray lasted hours and wafted whenever I moved my hand, revealing its noticeable presence around 4 feet. As I look forward to wearing 1957 in springtime, I've come to appreciate Les Exclusif line's consistency - owning four full bottles alongside a large collection of Coromandel samples, with my next full-bottle purchase already planned. My experiences with the EDPs have been limited but satisfying, leaving me feeling complete without missing anything.
