Reviews

"This is my go-to iris scent. I layer Iris 39 perfume oil with a drop of Silver Mist to amp up its rich, earthy rootiness—something it often lacks on its own—and create a perfectly balanced fragrance. The combination feels like a match made in perfume heaven, seamlessly merging the two into something that silences my endless search for the perfect iris. Iris 39 has this almost magical 'soulful warmth' to it, reminiscent of Southern California's Golden State vibe. It carries a bold, slightly sour floral note that I love, though it’s less intense here than in other perfumes like Santal 33. The result feels modern and grounded, not fleeting or overly transparent. While it projects strongly for the first few hours, it eventually settles into a light, clean skin scent. Unisex by design, but with just enough softness to lean slightly feminine. Overall, it’s warm, earthy, and floral—exactly what I’ve been searching for."

I love the mix of violets, patchouli, and musk in this perfume. It’s rich and floral but the carrot-like iris root gives it depth. Ylang adds a refreshing, watery touch. Overall, I’d go for the classic powdery violet scent over this one.

I really don’t enjoy this perfume, especially since iris is usually a favorite note of mine. Patchouli seems to overpower and ruin the delicate Iris scent. The soapiness from Ylang and aldehydes adds a sharp, unwieldy chemical edge that’s off-putting. This isn’t for me. It doesn’t bring to mind any Chanel perfumes I love, like No. 19 and 28 La Pausa, which are both wonderful Iris-based perfumes that this one falls short of in my opinion. Though I do enjoy many other Le Labo perfumes!

This fragrance brings back memories of walking in the garden during a cold morning after heavy rain. The scent of wet earthy soil and fresh powdery iris flowers is so vivid—it’s truly breathtaking!

I can usually pick out the scent of orchids in perfumes. Not sure how much of Iris and Civet I can detect in this one. I get a strong resemblance between Iris 39 and Tom Ford's Black Orchid. Does anyone else feel this way? Feel free to share your thoughts or press like if you agree!
