If you're into "blue" perfumes that have been trending lately, this might just be your thing. However, I'm not a fan myself, and honestly, it's a bit disappointing because the name seemed more promising than the actual scent. A Santal-based orange fusion sounds like it should be amazing, but it starts off with this hyper-realistic orange zest that just feels... real. Unfortunately, it quickly turns into a generic after-shave vibe. That said, if you're into perfumes like Sauvage or Channel Blue, you might really enjoy this.
A straightforward blend of orange and wood, this perfume is clean, cheerful, and pleasant without any harsh or unpleasant undertones. It doesn't really stand out but feels simple and refreshing. While it lacks a strong performance, it does deliver a subtle presence that's easy to appreciate. Plus, the affordably priced option makes it a good choice for everyday use.
This perfume has taught me something valuable—never overlook comparisons in the "Reminds Me Of" section before living with a fragrance for a day. The transition from sweet orange to dry mineral feels abrupt. While the opening juicy orange is inviting, it’s hard to imagine it evolving into a Ganymede-like base. Within hours, though, it does transform. My issue is that instead of blending harmoniously, the scent shifts dramatically, creating a disjointed experience. It’s like starting with a traditional artisanal sweet orange and ending up with an avant-garde dry mineral scent. While this duality might be intentional, to me, the two scents don’t meld together well. I’d prefer wearing them separately rather than as a hybrid fragrance.
The perfume opens with an invigorating burst of fresh orange, blending the sharpness of the peel with the juicy sweetness of the fruit. The top notes are brightened by cypress and basil, adding a crispness that feels both energizing and refreshing. As the fragrance develops, the sandalwood and oak moss base provides a creamy warmth, grounding the scent while maintaining its fresh character. Unfortunately, the vibrant orange doesn't stick around for long—it fades quickly into the base, though this is typical for citrus oils. What lingers is a subtle blend of orange and sandalwood, balanced by the earthy tones of cypress and basil. This combination creates a smooth transition from the lively top notes to the more settled dry down. While the composition feels classic rather than groundbreaking, it’s executed with skill, using high-quality ingredients that are over 90% natural. This fragrance feels versatile, working well on both warm days and cooler spring or fall mornings. It’s not reinventing the wheel but remains a polished and enjoyable scent for anyone who appreciates natural fragrances. The price point is excellent, reflecting Essential Parfums' commitment to affordability without compromising on quality.
"I received a decanted sample of Orange X Santal along with my Bianco Latte purchase. It's absolutely amazing! This might be one of the most impressive citrus perfumes I’ve ever encountered. The scent evolves into a refreshing, soap-like aroma during the dry-down. Perfect for spring and summer days—really leaning towards the summery side. I’m already planning to purchase the full bottle."
