The notes are gorgeous - and the composition of sweet plum, vanilla, and woods is right up my ally. However if you want an alternative which lasts much longer and projects, try Vintage Vanilla. (DUA). Its absolutely wonderful. +note: this fragrance has a big musky accord so if you dont care for musk, probably not for you
Do no waste your money, vanille antique is sooo overpriced, and has a weird smell. It smells like dirty pennies. 2/10.
I'd recommend that you buy a few samples before you buy a whole bottle. My nose picks up synthetic notes like ambroxan, iso e super, javanol and evernyl to the exclusion of most other notes. If one of the synthetic notes is more prominent than the natural oils, then that's all I smell. Unfortunately, all I smell in this is synthetic sandalwood. Not sure which one, there are so many, but it's the same one in Delina that turns sour for me. Also, there a good amount of iso e super. I don't find that note objectionable per se, it's just that it causes breathing issues. I'm sure this is a lovely scent for ppl that aren't bothered by these types of notes, but I always like to let others who suffer from this problem know about it so they can test first. I hate that I have this issue bc I'm not able to enjoy some fragrances with great profiles.
The plum in this is quite prominent. It mixes amazingly with the resinous amber and woodiness which stops it from being overly sweet. This is a very well blended fragrance, and the notes all play off of each other perfectly. One of my favorites from byredo but just extremely overpriced. 9/10
