Reviews

This perfume captures the essence of early spring in a bottle, with its almost bitter-green notes evoking the uncertainty and mystery of nature's awakening. While it may not be for everyone, I appreciate its unique take on traditional green fragrances, even if it could benefit from a softer approach.

Testing this perfume today and I can distinctly identify the grassy notes upon first inspection, but they seem to fade away once applied to my skin. Instead, I'm picking up on the rosy, fruity undertones, which I find incredibly pleasant. I find myself repeatedly smelling my wrists out of sheer enjoyment - it's truly delightful! The scent is light and subtly sweet, making it perfect for a spring or summer day.

A delicate, effervescent magnolia fragrance with a subtle green, herbal, and floral character. The scent is reminiscent of celery, while the magnolia's creamy undertones are expertly balanced to avoid overpowering the senses. Although the individual notes are seamlessly blended, the overall effect is surprisingly unique, eclipsing Un Jardin Sur De Nil in my opinion. Nonetheless, the fragrance's ephemeral nature may be a drawback for some.

My initial impression of Sur le Toit is a jarring blast of sharp, sour apple aromas that quickly give way to a sweet, pear-rose combination. However, it's the return to that same green apple note that dominates my perception, eerily reminiscent of a certain children's shampoo with a distinctive eyeball logo. Unfortunately, this overpowering scent persists even after drydown, leaving me disappointed and unable to fully appreciate its potential.

On me, Un Jardin Sur Le Toit is nearly a brilliant, unisex "garden" scent. Nevertheless, it falters in its delivery. Initially, I pick up on the listed fruits and a gentle green accord, with no rosemary present. Then, an unpleasant sourness emerges and persists. I'm unsure if this is due to the magnolia or "compost" note that other reviewers have detected. While not unpalatable, it's neither enjoyable either. It bears a resemblance to stale saliva, reminiscent of waking up in the dead of night with morning drool on my face and pillow. I wish the rosemary were more prominent or another herb was incorporated to complete the garden experience. I appreciate the concept behind this fragrance but am disappointed by its final product – it's not for me.
